Triad Math and Science Academy (TMSA Triad) Announces Opening of TMSA McLeansville Campus
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Triad Math and Science Academy (TMSA Triad) Announces Opening of TMSA McLeansville Campus
McLeansville, NC — January 13, 2026 — Triad Math and Science Academy (TMSA), a high-performing public charter school network serving the Triad since 2008, is proud to announce the opening of TMSA McLeansville Campus, a K–8 public charter school, scheduled to welcome students in August 2026.
Located at 5420 Millstream Road in McLeansville, the new campus marks a significant milestone in TMSA’s ongoing growth and commitment to expanding access to rigorous, STEM-focused public education. Designed to serve families in eastern Guilford County and surrounding communities, the TMSA McLeansville Campus will provide a high-quality learning environment grounded in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
The new campus will be housed in a 147,000-square-foot office building. This building will be ultimately converted to include classrooms, a cafeteria, a play field, and administrative offices. An additional gym and play fields will be added to complete the school campus.
The decision to open the McLeansville Campus follows an extensive feasibility study confirming strong community demand, record charter school waitlists, and a growing population of school-aged children in the area. The study also shows that hundreds of current and prospective TMSA students live closer to the Millstream Road site than to existing campuses, making the new location both accessible and strategically aligned with family needs.
“For nearly two decades, Triad Math and Science Academy has been committed to delivering high-quality public education rooted in academic excellence and opportunity,” said Mr. Ben Karaduman, TMSA Superintendent. “Opening TMSA McLeansville Campus in August 2026 allows us to serve families who have been seeking strong public education options closer to home, while staying true to our mission of preparing students for success through a rigorous, student-centered STEAM education.”
TMSA McLeansville Campus will serve grades K–8, eventually enrolling up to 900 students. This phased approach ensures thoughtful growth, strong staffing, and the preservation of TMSA’s high academic standards as the campus develops.
Across its existing campuses, Triad Math and Science Academy has earned significant recognition for exceptional student growth, including achieving 4 years in a row of positive academic growth rate and being rated with a 'B' status by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) for two consecutive years. The McLeansville Campus will extend this legacy, offering families a seamless K–8 pathway and reinforcing TMSA’s role as a leader in public charter education in the Triad area.
Enrollment Information
Due to high community demand and limited seat availability as the lottery date approaches, all interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. The enrollment lottery for the inaugural year will be held in early February. For application instructions, community information sessions, and updates, please visit www.tmsaschools.org.

TMSA Public Charter Schools Secures $5.0 Million Charter School Growth Fund Investment to Fuel Statewide Expansion
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TMSA Public Charter Schools Secures $5.0 Million Charter School Growth Fund Investment to Fuel Statewide Expansion
Apex, NC — December 18, 2025 — TMSA Public Charter Schools (TMSA) announced today that it has received approval for a $5.0 million multi-year investment from the Charter School Growth Fund (CSGF), one of the nation’s leading philanthropic investors in high-performing public charter school networks.
More than growth capital, the CSGF investment represents a strong external validation of TMSA’s academic performance, financial health, and disciplined approach to expansion. This endorsement is expected to help catalyze additional state and local fundraising, elevate key policy priorities, and deepen engagement with families and communities as TMSA expands its reach across North Carolina.
The investment will support TMSA’s statewide growth while strengthening the organizational systems needed to sustain quality at scale. Funds will primarily be used to enhance central office capacity and establish regional support offices in the Triad, Triangle, and Charlotte regions, ensuring consistent academic, operational, and compliance support across all campuses.
“This investment is both a vote of confidence and a powerful lever for what comes next,” said Ben Karaduman, Superintendent of TMSA Public Charter Schools. “CSGF’s partnership affirms that TMSA is prepared to grow responsibly, while giving us added momentum to advance our mission, build broader community support, and unlock additional resources for our students and families.”
TMSA currently serves nearly 5,800 students and operates with a $75 million annual budget, supported by clean audits, strong financial reserves, and an S&P BBB- bond rating. The network’s growth model is anchored in a regional feeder structure—three K–8 schools paired with one high school—creating strong K–12 pathways, enrollment stability, and consistent academic expectations.
The CSGF investment complements TMSA’s $8.3 million federal Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant, awarded in early 2025, which supports the expansion of five additional schools across Wake, Guilford, Mecklenburg, and Cabarrus counties.
While federal and philanthropic investments provide critical momentum, additional public support is essential to leverage these funds fully. TMSA always welcomes families, community leaders, policymakers, and business partners to invest alongside the federal CSP grant and the Charter School Growth Fund to expand and enrich academic programs, student services, and innovation across our schools statewide.
Together, these investments position TMSA to expand access to high-quality, tuition-free STEAM education while strengthening long-term organizational sustainability. By 2030, TMSA plans to serve more than 10,000 students across 12 schools statewide.

Alex Rhodes (singles) and Soham Kela & Rayyan Neikar (doubles) also advanced to regional play by advancing to the Central Tar Heel Tournament semifinals.
In addition to TMSA's individual successes on the court at the conference championship, Prahalad Srinivasan was named Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Our head coach, Sean Wu, was named Coach of the Year. This is also his second year in a row winning this award.
As a team, Triangle Math & Science received the #1 seed for the NCHSAA 1A East Dual-Team tournament. They will receive a double bye - advancing to the 3rd round of the playoffs. TMSA will play the winner of #8 Voyager Academy and #9 Clover Garden School. This game will be held at Ting Park in Holly Springs on May 8th at 4:30 PM. The Tigers look to make another run at a regional title this year, after a 5-4 setback to Riverside-Martin in the 1A East Regional final last year.
"What our tennis program has accomplished on the court over the last 3 years is nothing short of phenomenal. Winning 3 conference championships in a row is an incredible feat in itself, but it serves as a testament to our team's hard work, dedication, and relentless effort under the guidance of Coach Wu. Coach Wu's leadership and guidance have been instrumental in shaping our team, and we are very fortunate as an athletic program to have someone of his caliber leading our young men. I am extremely proud of Coach Wu and our men's tennis team, and I am excited to watch them compete as individuals and as a team over the next few weeks!" said Elliott Childress, Athletic Director.
